Day Twenty 'No sugar February'

We live everyday and die ONCE. Live EVERYDAY. Be thankful for EVERY day. Be thankful for what we have always.

Yesterday a good friend of mine’s dad died. He had Alzheimer’s and other ailments for a good while now. The family nursed him at home and only got home help in towards the end. My friend, her sister and mother have been amazing – nursing their father. I take my hat off to them. Nursing your husband is different to nursing your father, surely. But my friend has just got on with it – changing him, bathing him, feeding him and dressing him. Cleaning up after his accidents. She’s amazing and I take my hat off to her.

I hope I can go to the funeral to show my respects and support my friend, her kids, sister and mum.

I wonder how the kids are. Perhaps there is an element of relief, he wasn’t the man they’d grown up with by the end – far from it. Guess they were able to say goodbye and recognise that it was time for him to go. Hope they all have peace in their hearts.

I will drop by with a candle tomorrow.

Life hey! We live everyday and die ONCE. Live EVERYDAY. Be thankful for EVERY day. Be thankful for what we have always.
